Dr Shannon Murdoch spoke with Project Safe Space about the impact that poor reporting of domestic violence in the media has on stakeholders.
“I think it sets back every victim, I think it sets back every survivor, I think it sets back every service provider when the issues that are happening around men’s violence against women in our communities are not accurately reflected in the media”, Dr Spriggs-Murdoch said.
Dr Murdoch expressed her support for Project Safe Space as a tool to ensure that the next generation of journalists are able to approach the issue of domestic violence in an considered fashion in their reporting.
“I think you’re critically important… to creating a culture that either supports or condemns men’s violence against women “, she said.
